Four Arsenal Sarandi players were detained by police in Brazil during a brawl which occurred after Atlético Mineiro’s 5-2. Police officers restrained the Argentineans who confronted officials in the moments after the final whistle which saw them retaliate with punches and kicks. The Belo Horizonte police then moved in swiftly to detain players and members of the coaching staff, all of whom were not allowed to leave the stadium.
After Atletico Mineiro had crushed Argentine side Arsenal Sarandi 5-2 in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night, the Military Police of Minas Gerais entered the field of play to protect the officials. A large number of Arsenal Sarandi players were unhappy and decided to take on the riot police, first with some pushing and shoving, then a flying kick before a football was kicked at the law enforcers.
